Happy Anniversary to my Hunny Bunny!

Coffee of the Day - Salted Caramel Pecan

I want to thank all of you who have stopped by so far on the Jen's Sunshine Blog Hop! it has truly been just flat out overwhelming the love and kindness that has been poured out upon my family & myself by all of you! Thank you for everything!

The hop will continue through Tuesday, Sept, 4, so it is going to stay at the top of my blog until then. Prizes will be announced on Friday, Sept. 7. I KNOW all of you are excited about that! :)

I am still working my way through the hop. I hope to finish leaving comments by this evening. It's pretty emotional for me. I laugh, I cry (boy, do I ever cry on some of these posts.....), and I smile so so so big at every single stop along the way! then I have emails that come in, too, and I want to answer them all. Several of you have made donations, and we appreciate every penny. I will try to thank you all individually when I get the chance, but know that your generosity has made such a difference for us.

I can't stay on the compy for long periods of time until my poor wonky head just gives out and I'm exhausted. by 7pm last night you coulda put a fork in me - I was DONE! I went straight to bed and didn't wake up until after 7:45am this morning when the dogs were ready to go outside. I probably would have kept on sleeping, but they don't take 'no, I'm still tired' as an answer! grins!

Today hubby and I celebrate 26 years of marriage. whew! Poor guy.... I sure have put him through the wringer! I think back to last year on this day when we celebrated 25 years and went out for a nice dinner. who would have ever thought of the changes we would go through from one year to the next. But he has stayed by my side, and that says so much about him. God truly blessed me the day He brought David into my life!

poor guy just shakes his head every time I tell him that he is my hunny bunny and that is what I call him on my blog..... see, he really does put up with a lot! ;)

Tomorrow is the day for Jen's Sunshine Blog Hop!

Coffee of the Day - Toasted Coconut

Photobucket

The big day is right around the corner, and I'm as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs! I so want this to be a success for the wonderful people who have put so much time and heart into the blog hop.....and good golly molly, the prizes! the generous folks from all over who have donated the most fabulous goodies for all of you to win!!! your socks are gonna be blown right off of your little tootsies! :)

Please please plan to stop by just to thank those amazing people who have given so much of themselves to help this random person out in bloggy land y'all have embraced with such compassion it brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it. :)

All of you have been asking, so I'm gonna get the icky stuff out of the way -
yesterday's visit with the surgeon did not go well. Not only do I have 4 torn tendons, but I also have a torn rotator cuff. BUT he does not want to operate, for some random reason known only to him..... no matter how many times I asked, he never would answer me directly. don't you hate it when someone, especially a dr., does that? he admitted that the tears will NOT repair and heal on their own. instead he wants to put me on a lonnnnnng regimen of steroid injections and physical therapy. I quickly said no to the steroids. they didn't help whatsoever when I was getting them with my chemo so why would they help now? he honestly couldn't answer that one....but he still wanted to shoot me full of the blasted stuff. no thank you.

I realize that I am going to have PT regardless. but let's fix the actual problem instead of just doping me up with stuff. I still have enough icky floating through my system from the chemo. so we are going to try to find another surgeon to get a 2nd opinion. sigh.....

thank goodness for the sunshine! (actually it was pouring down rain yesterday and I loved every single drop!!! it was glorious!! Dave & I taught the boys to play in the rain....he & I used to have date walks in the rain storms. so very romantic!)

can't wait to see you there! if that pesky ol' Isaac gets in your way, the blog hop will last for several days, so you have plenty of time to stop by. not to mention that my prayers for your safety are with you above all else!

well I am off to the surgeon's to see what he has to say about my shoulder..... hope it is good news and I can get back to crafting soon. this being one armed is playing havoc with stuff I want to do at my crafty table! grins!

hugs to everyone! :)

Craft Barn Blog Candy!

As many of you know, the way I get most of my craft supplies is through winning challenges and blog candy. since we are on such a tight budget, and especially now with all of the medical bills, craft items don't typically come at the top of 'must haves'..... at least in hubby's opinion anyway! grins!

so when I come across blog candy promos, I tend to join right in the fun! I found this one today over at The Craft Barn I just had to tell y'all about. be sure to stop by and join in for your chance also! :) I would love to see one of you win - gotta share the love with my bloggy friends!

Home is Where the Dog is

Coffee of the Day - Caramel Hazelnut

Today is a fun challenge at Pile it On - use something that starts with 'P'. Jellypark is the sponsor, so you KNOW you want to play along! :)

I used this adorable new image from Jellypark, 'Puppy Dog' and papers from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Halloween collection. I paper pieced the little guy and added a fun field of grass for him to play in! The card base was first sanded, then lightly inked with vanilla craft, & finally sprayed with coffee glimmer mist. the senti, from Create with TLC, is sprayed with the same glimmer mist.

I have to tell you about the extra accents on here. As most of y'all know, I am notorious for grabbing all kinds of things from all kinds of places to use on my projects. Well Mick spent part of this past spring and summer working for a landscaping company. he had one pair of blue jeans that he wore it SEEMED like every day (although I know he didn't really!!). even though we bought him a few new pair of jeans to get him through the end of summer, he seemed to like wearing those jeans best. as of last week there wasn't much left of them. I finally put them through the wash for the last time, telling him I wanted to grab them for belt loops, pockets, zippers, etc. before throwing them out. he let me know there wasn't going to be much in the way of belt loops left to grab. truer words were never spoken! what you see here are the remnants of a belt loop! I loved the frayed ends so much that I had to use them on this card! of course I grabbed the pocket tag, too. :)

guess who is getting this card tucked away in some box to be found as he unpacks at college tomorrow night? yep, Mick! the ideal card for someone majoring in zoology! he will get a kick out of seeing what little remains of those jeans on a card, as well as a card letting him know that our dogs here at home are thinking of him. :)

Don't forget the big blog hop on Wednesday! I've heard there are almost 50 blogs participating and so so so many prizes up for grabs! I hope you will be there! :)

Jen's Sunshine Blog Hop News! :)

Coffee of the Day - White Chocolate Mousse

Hello to everyone! Thank you so VERY much for your wonderful words of encouragement yesterday. it really touched me heart the way so many of you reached out to me during my moaning and sadness. I can't even begin to tell you how much it helped lift my spirits. :) I try so hard to find the 'happy' each day, but gosh, yesterday I just couldn't. the joy was gone, but all of you brought it back to me. am I ever blessed!!!!

I want to share some most amazing news with you about the upcoming blog hop. As I've been telling you for the past few days, the Jen's Sunshine Blog Hop is on Wed., Aug. 29. that happens to be the day before Dave & I's 26th anniversary, so we both thought that was pretty special! So many people have been working so hard behind the scenes to make this blog hop a big success. I really do appreciate every single person who has done so much to help. :)

Several people have sent prizes directly to me so that I may offer them to those who comment on my blog that day. I just today received an email from Jane Beljo of Jane's Doodles. You will not believe what she is doing - she is going to give away her ENTIRE digi collection to one winner here on my blog! shut the door! can you believe that?! how completely fab is THAT?!?! and that is just one of the prizes I am giving away...... I have at least 3 more on top of that..... and then there are prizes galore throughout the hop.......

Photobucket

sheesh oh pete, folks! you have so got to be a part of this somehow, some way! if you want to actually be a blog stop, get in touch with Jenn C. by reading this post over at Party Time Tuesdays. otherwise, stock up on drinks & snacks and plan to party with us on Wednesday! man, is it gonna be a blast! can't wait to see you there! :)

Can't seem to find the sunshine...

for a crafty card related post, scroll down to the next one or click here.

Today it doesn't feel as if the sun is shining. I can see it outside my window, but I just don't FEEL it. have you had days like that before? I'm sure you have. we all do. and I've learned enough in these almost 50 years that the feelings like this will pass, thankfully, but while they are here they suck eggs big time.

Even though I have spent most of this summer alone, I'm hit once again as my guys prepare to head back to college. Tyler leaves tomorrow and Mick leaves on Sunday. Ryan is staying home for a year to go to a local community college. He gave up a year of traveling with Up with People to be home with me. I can't even begin to tell you the enormous amount of guilt I feel over that one. Thankfully they have kept a spot open for him for next year because of the circumstances, and for that I am most grateful. It also allows him more time for fundraising, but it still stinks that he put his life on hold because of me. I have to say once again that I am so very proud of my sons. :)

I have an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon on Monday about my shoulder. in the mean time I have pain medication that helps a little to give me some movement. Don't like the idea of more surgery/hospitals/medical stuff, but can't really avoid it these days. really don't want to start radiation treatments either, but right now don't even know when that is going to be. have to get this shoulder stuff done first. gosh, I'm so very weary of health ick. and so very weary of feeling so rotten.

I've been living in my flannel pants & t-shirts & hoodies since the winter. don't even recognize photos of me with hair on my head. it seems like another person entirely. I don't even remember those days anymore. Tried going for a quick trip to Wal-Mart yesterday and Tyler had to drive back. I was hanging on to the cart just to get through the store within 20 min. of arrival. this is getting so old. again, I'm just weary. do you see the sun over there? please tell me it's still around and someone feels it..... I need to know that it's there for someone, even if I can't feel it.....

Holiday Happiness Hexagons

Coffee of the Day - White Chocolate Mousse

A new challenge begins over at ABC Christmas Challenges - Q for quilting. This was a fun challenge to play in! I have this weird 'thing' for hexagons lately.... don't know why really, but gosh, I am so fascinated by them! as soon as I saw the theme for this week, I knew immediately that I wanted to try to make something using this shape and faux stitching. you didn't think I would attempt to REALLY pull out my sewing machine now, did you?! tee hee! although, gosh, lately, it has been tempting as I see all of the neat things people do with sewing on their cards... if it weren't for that dratted bobbin I would be all over it.

anyhow, I grabbed this cutie pattootie freebie image from over at Milk Coffee. there are several other fun Christmas images in their Etsy store, too, if you are interested. I still had my Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee papers out on my craft desk, so thought I would use a few of the scraps with some others. the hexagon die is from MFT. so love this die! the main image was accented with stickles, Viva Decor pearl paint, chunky glitter, and a gold glitter gel pen. poinsettia is from Prima, string/twine trim is from Etsy, button is vintage, and itty bitty clothespin was covered with washi tape. card base was sprayed with white Mr. Huey's mist. faux stitching was done with a white gel pen. oh yes, ornament die is Basic Grey for Sizzix.

Don't forget to sign up for my big blog hop on Aug. 29! lots and lots of prizes will be up for grabs from so many different sponsors. you can be a participant or just plan to hop along. Check this post at Party Time Tuesdays for more information. Can't wait to see you there for all of the fun! :)

Beautiful in Green

Coffee of the Day - Spiced Hazelnut

Happy Tuesday! Are you ready to party? grab the noisemakers, balloons, and confetti because it's a new challenge at Party Time Tuesday! We have a wonderful color inspiration photo for you to use for your papercraft projects this week. it immediately brought to mind freshly mowed grass, fields of corn which grow everywhere around here & are so beautiful to see, trees standing in majesty; so many examples of nature. As I have gotten older, the one thing I know for certain is that I need to be surrounded by trees and nature. I don't think I could live in a big city again. my soul needs green, so I was really happy to see this color palette.

Now for crafting, well, it's not a color combo I use often at all. so here comes the 'challenge' part! tee hee! but we as crafters always need to be nudged out of our comfortable box every once in a while. One of our sponsors this week is the fun store, Paper Parade. (btw - there is a big summer sale going on right now with 20% off everything in the store!!! wowza!) They were very kind and provided a few goodies for everyone on the DT to play with, but after seeing what was in my envie, I went to the store and picked up a few more things. early anniversary giftie from hubster! thanks, hunny bunny!! :) oh yes, he says to tell all of you thank you for the birthday wishes. he was surprised that y'all would think of him, so he was really touched.

My card uses stamps from both the Pink Paislee London Market and Spring Jubilee sets. paper is Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee. the fab die is from Cottage Cutz and was covered in rock candy distress stickles. all inks are Tim Holtz distress inks. I confess that this was my first time to actually use them for stamping. oh gosh, I truly squealed out loud when I stamped that darker green - peeled paint. you know me, I had to add a little touch of pink - spun sugar. it's only a hint, so I hope I can be forgiven. grins! frayed burlap is the brownish shade you see and shabby shutters is the lighter green. the darker green cs turned out almost black in my scan - sorry about that. I used colors that were the closest I had to the photo. the pretty pins were made for me by a friend. aren't they gorgeous?

I do hope all of you are gearing up for the big blog hop on Aug. 29. You can find more info here on the Party Time Tuesdays blog if you are interested in taking part. This is sooooooooo much bigger and more grand than I could have ever imagined! thank you so much to everyone who is involved! I just read an email this morning about the number of participants already as well as the amazing amount of prizes being donated. slap me silly!!! y'all are soooooo in for a treat! and it falls on the day before our 26th anniversary, so that is an even bigger bonus! :) hope to see YOU there!

Courage

Coffee of the Day - Pecan Pie

Happy Monday to you! oh you think I don't hear the grumbles over here?! it's a brand new day of a brand new week - all brought to you in its glory for some wonderful bit of blessing just for YOU! can't wait to hear what beauty is just outside your door! :) hope the bluebird of happiness is singing sweet songs beside your window!

Today also brings a new challenge over at the Digi Makeover by Paper Makeup Stamps. the challenge this week is to create a Tent Topper card. I had never made one of these before and was surprised at how easy it was. you can find a tut here at Split Coast Stampers. Please be sure to stop by the blog today. We have a new DT member, Ardilla, as well as a guest designer, Rachel Fisher. You can also see all of the lovely inspiration projects by the rest of the DT. so many reasons to pop by to tell everyone hello! :)

My card uses the 'Courage is Not' sentiment and Pink Paislee Declaration paper. This sentiment touched my heart in a special way and is so very, very true. It can apply to so many aspects of life. As I have said many times lately, gotta put those brave boots on and plow right on through! I am also reminded of what God tells us in Psalms, we walk THROUGH the valley of darkness, we don't stay and hang out. the only way to do that is with Him by our side. gosh, that brings a lot of comfort! :)

I picked up these fun tickets at the paper store last week. David took me for a little splurge once I got out of the hospital and those icky poo tests. Color actually matches perfectly irl. senti is borderd with distress stickles as is the little cardboard banner. buttons are vintage, stamps happened to come on an envie last week & I knew they would be perfect on some upcoming papercraft project. didn't know how fast I would be using them! giggles! trim is May Arts & rose is Prima. card base is embossed and then highlighted with vanilla craft.

Don't forget the big blog hop is coming Aug. 29! There is still time to sign up if you would like to participate. Check out this post at Party Time Tuesdays for more info. I hope all of you can make it! :)

I am Second

Coffee of the Day - Pumpkin Spice

I have had this on my heart since yesterday and wanted to share with all of you. I quite often listen to various CD's while on my computer or crafting. I love music of all kinds, so my library is pretty ecelectic, but the music that is closest to my heart is Contemporary Christian or alternative Christian music. it has always just brought me right to the feet of God, in a form of worship that doesn't compare to any other. the closest thing I find is when I am outdoors in His nature.

anyhow, one of the CD's I was listening to yesterday was "God's Not Dead" by the Newsboys. I was so excited when I heard that Michael Tait was going to be joining them several years ago as lead singer. I was a huge fan of DC Talk and saw them numerous times in concert. There are many great songs on this CD, but the one that really hit me was "I am Second," the final song. I am sharing the video here for all of you. it is not the official one from the Newsboys, but it does have the lyrics included.

I really needed that reminder that my life is all about putting myself second - ALWAYS. this is not negotiable. others, most especially God, always always always come first. if you aren't a person of faith, this is still a lesson that is crucial. we need to be humble. everyone needs to feel loved, treasured. and we can't just leave it to 'someone else' to take that responsibility. be the one to show the love.

there is a great website that goes with this message - http://www.iamsecond.com/. there are some amazing, very personal videos available to watch with all kinds of messages from some pretty spectacular people.

thanks for letting me share. remember, you are truly, deeply loved! :)

A Happy for my Hunny Bunny

Coffee of the Day - Coconut Macadamia

Happy happy birthday to my most amazing hubby! in the cyberworld I call him my hunny bunny, so it just seemed appropriate that he get a happy hunny bunny card for his birthday. yep, y'all know I'm weird like that! grins! I was supposed to be part of a blog hop today, but never heard back from the person in charge after several emails. so y'all get the card anyhow - just have to hop like a bunny on your own! imagine we are in a lovely conga line with that unique song playing in the bg..... hop, hop, hop!!!

The cutey rabbit is from Jellypark. papers are Basic Grey PB&J. bg was embossed with a Tim Holtz woodgrain folder. buttons are vintage and belt loop comes from one of the boys' pair of shorts. other elements are from a Freckled Fawn 'Oh Deer Me' Kit of the Month. these are quite addicting, and always fun to get! different shops from Etsy are included in the kits each month. I've only done several of them, but have enjoyed the variety of goodies. hope to be able to collect more as time goes along. the 'happy' text comes from an alphabet by Deliteful.

Received the news yesterday that I have several tears in my left shoulder tendons. can't for the life of me figure out how that happened, but am in the process of getting appts. with an orhopedic surgeon. Need to get it fixed before I can start radiation treatments. always something to keep life interesting! :) enjoy your weekend!

Choose Hope

Coffee of the Day - Maple

Hello to all of you! My post today will be very short.... I will try to come back later to add more details as I can.

Yesterday I spent the day at the hospital for lots of tests. it didn't go so well, and I am completely whipped. my poor head just can't get wrapped around the most simple of things right now, so typing or my computer is proving to be more of a challenge than I can conquer for the mo. so sorry for this....

anyhow, the new challenge over at Party Time Tuesdays is Garden Delights. there are both some great sponsors this week as well as some fab projects by the DT, so please pop over to take a looksie.

My card uses several digis from Paper Makeup Stamps, paper from Prima, vintage buttons, washi tape, and little pearl gems. the main image was inked with distress stains, sprayed with pearl glimmer mist, and then over sprayed with clay Mr. Huey mist.

thanks so much for stopping by! I hope to have more for you when I'm feeling better. thank goodness those birds are still singing their beautiful songs! :)

---> Today is also Top Tip Tuesday. sorry that I didn't finish my card for this challenge. I hope to have it done for a midweek posting....the new challenge is one layer cards. please stop by the blog to see everyone's amazing projects!

Bee Happy!

Coffee of the Day - Texas Turtle (caramel, pecan, & chocolate)

This week at Pile it On, we have a fun bingo game for our challenge theme. you can play across, diagonally, up & down, 4 corners, whatever floats your boat! I happened to go on the diagonal for my card. I'm also late with my Jellypark challenge card, "Summer Bugs", so thought I would just do a 'two-fer' while I felt good enough to craft! :)

Jellypark has a fun new club at the store, and this cute bee is the latest free-bee available to all club members. head over to the store and sign up. it's free and great things will come your way!

Papers are My Mind's Eye Follow Your Heart Be Amazing.... whew... that's a mouthful! the senti was punched with a cool-io ticket punch and then adhered to a tab. tag was one I coffee stained. buttons & lace trim on tag are vintage. banner note piece & little stitched butterfly piece come from EvaLicious. wings on bee are covered in stickles while bg of image was sprayed with Mr. Huey's mist. I so love that stuff! glimmer mist by Tattered Angels = sparkle spray, Mr. Huey's = plain color spray. both are staples on my craft desk. :) oh yes, can't forget the music score washi tape across the top!

A Peaceful Christmas Penguin

Coffee of the Day - Caramel Hazelnut

Hello! It's an afternoon post for you here.... sorry about that. spent the morning at my oncologist's office and then the hospital. not a fun way to begin a day, but Mick popped by for the afternoon. Most certainly cheered my day right up, that is for certain! :) Always happy to see any of my fam drop by. They spend the summer out at Camp, so it's a day brightner when I get to see any of them. :)

I was tickled pink to be asked to be a guest designer over at 3 Girl JAM today. Also posting for ABC Christmas challenge, so combined them all into one happy card! The Christmas challenge this fortnight is to paper piece on your project. this is one of my fave techniques to use, so that was a fun one for me. I love the pretty ribbons from 3 Girl JAM, so it was easy to find holiday papers that went together with the colors I had. you know me, I HAD to use my pink ones! grins! isn't it so soft and lush?!

My cutie Jellypark penguin was paper pieced with papers from the Jillibean Soup Christmas Eve Chowder collection. His snowy bg was created with glimmer mist spray while he sits upon a bed of Stickles snow. Little sparkly touches were made to the hat with both gems and a spica glitter pen. The card base bg was embossed with a Basic Grey snowflake dry embossing folder by Sizzix and highlighted with vanilla craft ink. Felt snowflake comes from SU!. Peace sentiment tag was punched from a piece of vintage sheet music.

Thanks for stopping by! My compy was away for repairs for almost a week, so I have a lot of catching up to do. Will give y'all an update after I go for more tests later in the week and into next..... keep looking for that sunshine! :)
